FFA Auction, the old school, and Prom

Today was a beautiful day, unlike what they predicted earlier in the week. It was the 2nd annual FFA auction and slave auction. Dillan and Alex sold for $150 each for an 8 hr day, Jim Hoffman bought Dillan and Scott bought Alex. It was kind of a bad day with being Prom and everything, also, lots of sales throughout the community. This is the old school where Alden and I met, well that's what he tells everyone. Alden is 5 years older than me, so he was in 5th grade when I was in kindergarden. Anywho, Doug told us they were tearing it down so we checked it out yesterday. It is just a few miles from us.
LeRoy Wortman is tearing down the old school.

Dillan, at home before he picks up Candra. It doesn't seem possible he is all grown up and going to his first prom. I bought an Oscar De La Renta suit at Herbergers for him and he got some comfortable shoes. Don't know what he will do next year.

This year after the dinner at prom, they had prominade in the Pirate gym of all of the kids and their dates. Then they stopped and you could take their picture. The whole community was invited. Here is Dillan with his date Candra Friedrich. I love her dress, it is such a pretty color.
Dillan having fun at the blackjack table with Dan Stelling.

Dillan playing Alden's game. My nephew Alex was a prom server. He is in the middle 3rd from the right.

Dillan and Candra relaxing at 4:00 a.m., Dillan is waiting to have his name drawn, he did and won $5 cash. He also won bonoculers, a beach towel for two, a wooden chair, umbrella, a dodge thinge to put over the hitch on the pickup, an oil change at 2-m auto in Brunswick, gift cert. for food, and a lot more stuff. The parents get donations and they pay $30 per person (Dillan didn't cause I sold enough Herberger community day tickets he didn't have to pay) and there are people like me that solicite businesses for money or prizes. Then people go out and buy the prizes. The parents all show up at about 11:45 for a meeting and go in to the gym after the kids leave to go get changed for the post prom party. We have food and games all night long that the kids play to earn money to buy prizes. It is so much fun to spend the night with your child and their date on prom night. I know when I was in high school they were just starting this and I chose to go the after prom party. So, this is such a good alternative to that. We didn't get to bed until 4:45 a.m. Makes for a very short night. Up at 9:00 for church. Alden got up earlier to have chores done. Dillan and Candra went to a friends in Brunswick after the post prom party for breakfast.

Lisa,

WOW, what a trip down memory lane. I have not been in the old school for ........YEARS. Thanks for the Pictures. Kinda weird to see it go...

Thanks also for the great pictures of Prom. I heard the kids got some really cool stuff. Mike was getting stuff together for collage. You parents really must do a great job for them. I will get a taste next year....Yippy

I hope some of the girls took lots of pictures of Alex at the dance. His nice red silk tie is all snagged up. I questioned him about WHO he was dancing so close to (Sequins) and he said it was Mrs. Wacker!!!!! I told him I need proof....

Thanks again for the pictures and posts.

Love, Kim

I think Alex likes to pull your leg and get your goat (inside joke)

We got there when the kids were still dancing and I went and watched Dillan dancing, they were singing some song that they had their hands in the air, I don't know if it was YMCA or not, I didn't see Alex. We had to go to the Pirate gym for a meeting and didn't get to watch anyone who was left leave the dance.

Did Alex have a suit or just a nice shirt and tie?

So fun to see Dillan's prom. What a "great looking" couple. You are so" handsome" Dillan.

Lisa you are getting to be quite the "sales person"

Thanks for the update.

Did you ask Doug for a board from the school?
