My Chicken's-March 21, 2007

OK Lukas, here is a picture of my chickens. I gathered 19 eggs today and when I went out and counted them I had 19 hens and 4 roosters. Yes, 4 roosters, I got rid of 7 this winter, so I let 3 of them out (Maggie's not here today) and the small one I couldn't catch. I don't need 4 roosters, I didn't know I only had 19 hens left, I lost a few this winter, so I am down to 19, so getting 13-19 eggs a day is pretty good. I took your advise Suzanne and let the roosters out so I could enjoy them for one day until Maggie's is back tomarrow. Lukas, thanks for all your pro-chicken advise. I don't think I will keep them 20 years though :-) maybe 2 or 3 though, 1 year would be to labor intensive for me. Who knows maybe Christian and Jasmine can train the little rooster to do tricks, I don't though if I want to keep him, he is so noisy.

Well good thing you said something cause all the other roosters bit the dust (well at least I think cause I let them out and Maggie is here today.) So, if you want that rooster or want to teach it some tricks you would have to catch it first cause I chased it around the chick en coup for 15 min yesterday and couldn't catch it. It is so annoying cause it crows so loud, it's small but mighty.

Blessings and hugs,
