We are finally done!!!!

Yes, it is true. We are finally finished with our post-placement visits. We had our final one in Omaha yesterday with our social worker. As soon as she gets the 3 reports finished our adoption will be legally final in Nebraska and we can apply for Nebraska birth certificates. Since we visited the kids while they were not legally ours yet in Haiti they came home on a visa that states as soon as they touch Americal soil they are US citizens-so we applied and received their social security numbers but had to wait until we finished the 3 post placement visits (2 in Omaha-one at our house) that we could apply for the Nebraska birth certificates. People told us this is something you want to do as it is easier to get copies from Nebraska then Haiti. So, we are hiring a lawyer to have him do the necessary paper work for us.

It feels like such a relief to have this stage of it over with. We had a long talk with C and J before we went on how we didn't want a scene like last time. Our first homestudy visit was aweful-Christian was really good-Jasmine decided to be very naughty and play with the dolls at Adoption Links and when we said it was time to go she didn't want to leave them-then we stopped at Kohls to get a suit for C and she was running towards the store and Alden told her to quit running and grabbed her and she started screaming-he had to call me in the store and tell me to come out as someone might arrest him-you know a white man with a little black girl screaming at the top of her lungs. Well, she screamed for an hour or so on the way home and wouldn't sit in her seat and buckle up so she spent almost all the way home on the floor.

We praised them for being so good and doing what we said-we told them we would play at a park afterwards if they were good-it was a beautiful day (60 degrees) unseasonably warm. They wanted to play green light-red light-so we did that for a while and then ate at KFC in Fremont on the way home.

Well, during the night the weather changed and we woke up to single digits and blowing snow. Plainview had a 10:00 late start and found out Jasmine left her winter coat in the bathroom at KFC-she took so long I went to the car and didn't even notice she didn't have her coat cause it was so warm. Luckily, I had bought one at the Salvation Army a week ago for a spare.
