Last Wed we started packing for our trip to Haiti and Florida. Christian reminded me that we needed to take something to the kids at the O, (boy am I glad he reminded me), he went downstairs and got our stach of matchbook cars and trucks, can you believe we had over 80. Last time we took a bunch, luckily a friend had given us a big rubbermaid tote full of them. We also took a big bag of bubble gum, I don't think they knew what bubble gum was though.
We left at 7:00 on Thursday and got into Haiti around 4:00 that same day, it was great not to have to stay overnight. We fly with our friends the Heatons from Lincoln, Nebraska, they were spending time with their 2 girls that are still in Haiti. We met up with them in Chicago and arranged so we could sit next to them on the flight, (although most of them slept most of the time) As usual it was crazy at the airport with 3 men fighting over us and yelling and screaming that we were their friends and they got to handle our luggage.) We gave the one armed man $25 and he had to split it between the other 5 of them. It was 95 degrees when we got off the plane which I didn't think was too bad. We got to stay at a new hotel that was only a couple of years old and was really nice and was very reasonable for nice hotels in Haiti.
