Today Jasmine went outside to ride her bike and within a few minutes came back in...I said, "why did you come back in", she said, "no bike, drink from the sky." Oh, it's raining out. I really have to be thinking these days and try to understand what they are trying to tell me, it is so funny. The other day I had washed Jasmine's hair and she got into bed and kept pointing to the pillow and her hair and drink in my hair, Oh, she wants a towel to put on the pillow cause her hair is wet.
Yesterday, we registered them at Zion a private Christian school in town that I went to and so did my 3 other boys when they were in grade school. We had pretty much decided we were sending them to the public school as we thought they would offer us some special ESL (English the second language) classes but, when we went to visit they said that they had talked to some experts that said that they don't need this and that the best thing for them is to get them in school and immersed in the language and they will do fine. I had spoken with a teacher friend of mine from the Christian school and asked her to work with my kids and she was working with them the next day. After she worked with them for a couple of hours she said that they would do fine in 1st and 2nd grade and that she would be glad to work with them; but, she didn't feel it was necessary, she also said she really hoped we would send them to the christian school. Well, it was a real pull to send them there cause of the getting to talk about Jesus factor and incorporating Jesus into all circumstances.....especially discipline....something that adoptive parents complain about ....lieing, stealing, etc. We have not had any huge issues with this, but, knowing that Jesus does not like it really makes it a blessing. Plus, the Christian school has access to title 1 and speech therapy....so we signed them up...and last night I got a inkling of all the work that goes into sending your child to a privately funded school....didn't think I wanted to go back in time and have to help with party's, driving to field trips....helping with fundraisers, grandparents luncheon's, etc.....but, I just need to change my attitude I guess.
The kids' are so excited about going to school, Monday when we were there talking to Christian's teacher, they did not want to leave Jasmine's teachers' room and go home....did I mention they are SOOOOOO excited for school to start. It was so funny when Christian was at his desk yesterday with almost all his books there and looking at them, he was swishing his tongue back and forth through his teeth and making gestures like I have to do this. It was so funny to watch both of them...getting ready for school and getting supplies....our living room has turned into a play area with glue, sissors and pieces of paper everywhere....they are constantly creating things...the other day, Jasmine made a paper phone for Alden and me....yesterday Christian made a basket and glued the sides....I know someone taught him to do this.
The other day we also signed them up for soccer and that will be starting soon, Christian talks about playing soccer at the O all the time. We picked up shoes and shin guards at the Schools' rummage sale....just have to get Jasmine a pair now!!!!!
Yes, we are going from being Football parents to a soccer mom and dad. Dillan announced he is not going out for football or any other sports.....so, now we can concentrate on soccer, soccer, soccer. I guess it will be fun.
